The plan was to climb Tabletop and Phelps in one hike, but with this being my first high peak in snowshoes I decided to do just Tabletop. Walking atop 6+ feet of crunchy snow is such a unique experience and something I hope everyone gets to do at some point. This was also my first time hiking out of the Loj toward Marcy Dam, a trail that would become very familiar to me in the years to come. Any water crossings were frozen over and the typically muddy ridge walk along tabletop was very enjoyable being buried under feet of snow. The summit treated me to the best views of Marcy I had gotten and it was great to sit in the snow and look at the peak I would be finishing my 46 on a year and a half later. The walk out was as enjoyable as the walk in, though this was my first time experiencing how the 2 miles from the Loj to Marcy Dam always seem to be twice as long on the way out.
