Jacob is an avid performer in the northern New York region adept in a variety of musical styles. As an advocate of contemporary music he has commissioned eight new works for trumpet and views working with living composers as an opportunity to not only keep music progressing into the future, but also to help lift up the voices of groups that are underrepresented in instrumental music. Jacob holds degrees in music performance from Eastern Michigan University and the Crane School of Music. As an experienced arts administrator Jacob serves as Director of Operations with the Lake Placid Sinfonietta where he helps the organization to grow and flourish. He uses his passion and expertise in administration to help organizations find innovative ways to connect with and serve their communities.

Jacob is an experienced educator and enjoys helping his students meet and exceed their goals. He strives to assist students in becoming well rounded musicians who are not only skilled on their instrument, but are also knowledgeable of music theory and history. It is this focus on being well informed that enables Jacob's students to make intelligent and bold musical decisions of their own. Jacob's students have performed with distinguished youth ensembles such as the MSBOA All State High School Orchestra and High School Jazz Band, Detroit Symphony Youth Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble, and many country and region honor bands.

Jacob's first formal instruction on music composition began in 2019 with Dr. Whitney Prince, though he had previously been trained in the fundamentals of music theory by Dr. Marilyn Saker. His composition studies continued at the Crane School of Music with Dr. Ivette Herryman Rodriguez. Since he began studying composition, he has completed a number of increasingly ambitious projects and has developed a unique and personalized voice among modern composers.
